Collagen Induction Therapy is The Way to Youthful Skin
Anti-aging services are some of the most popular services we offer—understandably so. I mean, who doesn’t want to turn back the clock on wrinkles and age spots?
One of the most exciting parts of being an aesthetician is having the opportunity to learn about and try new, cutting-edge skin treatments and technologies as they are developed. Micro needling, or Collagen Induction Therapy is an effective skin treatment we always recommend to clients of any age at Botanica! Find out what it can do for your skin…
What is Micro Needling?
So just what is micro needling? Don’t let the word “needle” frighten you. This treatment is minimally invasive and works by triggering the skin’s own repair mechanisms. Using a micro needling pen with very fine points, small channels are created in the skin to stimulate growth factors and the production of collagen and elastin—the natural anti-aging proteins which exist in our skin.
What are the Benefits of Micro Needling?
Micro needling is very unique in that it calls upon the skin’s natural healing processes to fill the microscopic wounds that are created by micro needling. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin while improving the texture and firmness of the skin, and reducing scars, and reduce pore size. Last but not least, micro-needled skin allows for the active ingredients (such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and others) to penetrate more deeply and effectively. Giving it the proper nutrition it needs.
Some of our clients have reported more firm, radiant skin even after one micro-needling collagen induction therapy. Micro-needling is recommended for treating
- Wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Hyper-pigmentation
- Age spots
What to Expect After Collagen Induction Therapy
Your aesthetician will go over with you any special instructions following your micro needling session, which might include staying out of the sun or avoiding certain chemicals in your skincare regimen.
Is This Treatment Right for Me?
Micro needling can be performed on all skin colors and types and is often preferred over laser treatments as there is no risk of burning. As opposed to laser treatments or chemical peels, micro needling can be done on sensitive areas around the eyes, mouth, hands, and chest. This treatment is customizable and during your consultation with the aesthetician, you will point out areas that are sensitive or which you want to tackle more aggressively.
Depending on your skin, micro needling is usually recommended every four weeks.
Micro needling is a wonderful anti-aging and rejuvenating treatment for addressing wrinkles, age spots, scarring, and hyper-pigmentation. This treatment is not suitable for clients with open wounds, any current skin infections, recent radiation treatments, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Micro needling is not recommended for those with very sensitive or acne-prone skin.
If you’re a do-it-yourselfer or short on time like many of our clients, at-home micro needling systems are sold at the spa as well and are a great option if you are interested in learning proper self-treatment techniques. Talk to our aestheticians and we’ll recommend, based on your skin type, a micro needling self care product and program you can easily maintain at home.
